First Steps, Thanksgiving, and Fun Tid Bits

It's been a while since I blogged, so I'm really behind. Here is a mish mash of Rori's accomplishments, our Thanksgiving vacation, and just some other fun little pics and moments. They are not in order, just kind of thrown together...Sorry about that.

I just had to include this picture. I thought her little boots were so cute with the tights this day. And I really loved our little firebush while it held onto its leaves!

Rori helping me decorate the Christmas tree. The lights were so enthralling, she was a huge help ;)

Rori absolutely loves this cupboard. She will spend an half hour just crawling in and out of it and putting things, like fruit roll ups, in and out. It is hilarious.

For Thanksgiving we went to Scott's sister's and then to my Grandma and Grandpa's in Spokane. I had never been to Anglela's before. They live in a cabin in a beautiful pine forest. It was fun to see it finally.
I haven't been to visit my Grandparents in ages! It was so neat to finally have Grandma meet Rori and to spend a few days with them just relaxing. I love to visit them, they make everyone feel so at ease. I got to see two of my cousins that I haven't seen in years too. Michelle has a beautiful little girl with another on the way any day now. It was so fun to catch up!

All of us together, don't mind my freakish look the sun was super bright!

Rori watching football with her Grandpa. Think she will learn any of the plays?

Scott is pretty sure Rori gets her blue eyes from Angela :) What do you think?

Uncle Kevin shared his stylin' shades with Rori. Is she cool or what :)

Our cute little bum sleeper. She nearly always has her feet crossed, it's so funny!

Asking for Daddy. When is she gonna learn to say mommy! You would think I never did anything for the kid!

Rori is getting at least one molar. Until now teething has not been a big deal. I will just suddenly notice a new tooth in her little mouth. This time though we've had a few nights of nastiness, one ticked of kid!

The day Rori turned 14 months she took her first steps. Two weeks later we haven't made huge progress, but she is gradually getting more stable. I'm hoping by Christmas she will be able to hold her own against "lil miss e" :)

Rori thinks it is incredibly funny to pull my knees apart and then slam them together. Anytime I sit on the floor she want to play her favorite game. No seriously people I'm am permanently bruised from this daily crack up. But it is worth it, she is so stinking hilarious.

While at Angela's Rori learned to go up stairs. We don't have any. Then at Grandma and Grandpa's, she learned to go down. It is amazing how quick she picks things up when it is her idea. If it is your idea. Forget it, you might as well bang your head against a wall. :)

Bragging Rights

Big news in the Taylor Family! Scott and Rori both set records! Scott's company received a payment check for Scott's first sale for $14,000. It is an all time record for the largest check anyone has ever gotten on their first sale! I am so proud of him! He works really hard and it is awesome to see it pay off! I am so grateful to have a husband that is dedicated to providing for his family. Also Rori learned to stand by herself!

Ok so I realize that learning to stand solo at 13 and 1/2 months does not put my baby "ahead of the curve" or set any records. But it was a big moment for us! So I just wanted to take a moment to show off my kids new skills.

I have been trying to convince Rori to stand up by herself for a while. Whenever I attempt to push it on her she falls down and giggles like crazy, or picks her legs up like a turtle making it impossible to set her on her feet. However, Friday night I was sitting on the floor while feeding her (she was boycotting the high chair that day). She came up to me, used me to stand up, and proceeded to let go and stand totally on her own. She stood for about 7 seconds and then repeated the process for like 15 minutes. Standing for as long as 10-12 secs. We are thrilled, and scared. I have been a little stressed that she is not standing, she hangs out in nursery some and I feel like she needs to learn to walk for defensive reasons :) But she only does things when she feels its time. Once it's her idea she moves ahead full steam! I wonder if this independent streak could cause problems in the teen years...nah.

Rori is a serious babbler now. Using lots of tongue in her own little language. She loves to look at books or tear up, I mean read, magazines. She is super happy to entertain herself most of the day and way low maintanance. Lately she has taken to rolling on the floor and laying down on her back and just kicking her right leg. It reminds so much of when she was little it makes me a little sad. She likes her walker, but prefers to use her high chair, which is on wheels, as a walker. Why do I buy toys again?

We're pretty sure she says Da Da, Was Sis (What's This). Other than that she can sign more, which means: more, food, hungry, want that, want that NOW, FEED ME I'M STARVING ALREADY!!! and several other things. She touches her head alot in a meaningful way, but we're still not positive if that means Daddy, All Done, or something else all together. We were working on all done but she mostly just shoves the high chair tray to show she is ready to be on the move again. She is our busy happy girl and we love her!

Fall Fun and a New Car Seat!

Happy Fall!

I absolutely love this time of year. The leaves make me happy! We have the neatest fire bush or whatever those cool red ones are called in our yard. I need to take a picture and post it but yea, they make me happy.

Last night we carved our first pumpkin. We don't have pictures of the finished product yet since we couldn't find any candles but I will put that up soon. At first Rori ignored the pumpkins and just wanted to mess with the newspaper Scott put down as a precaution. Then Scott used them as drums and they became quite interesting. She tried to chew the stems, and really wanted to help Daddy with the knife. For some reason mommy kept pulling her away, she was not amused! But all in all we had a good time. I can't wait to take of picture of her next to the finished product!
On Saturday we went to Boo at the Zoo. It was a lot of fun. Rori didn't much like the costume characters but we had fun visiting with Scott's cousin and her family! Thanks for meeting us Heidi!
I thought this was a pretty good shot of her in her costume. She held still for a whole two seconds!
Rori is getting a lot better at standing. Earlier this week I put her down in the standing position. She stood for a whole 4 seconds before she realized she wasn't holding onto anything and then immediately fell over. She reminds me of the cartoons that can walk off cliffs as long as they don't notice they have done it.

We also got a new car seat! She really likes facing forward. It is sad though that she is so big! Speaking of big girls I can hear that one just woke up so I'll sign off for now :)

Home Improvements...sort of

Rori has learned to climb into cupboards. Especially if there are Grahm Crackers for the taking! She pulls everything out while she's at it. So helpful! She has also learned to stick her tongue out and make rasberries, she imitates Scott it is so funny! I also think she has learned to say Was sis. Or What's this. I say that to her all the time and I'm pretty sure she is saying it back now. We are on our way to verbal communication people!

So when my parents came to visit (See the below post.) They brought a freezer from my Grandma's house for us to use! We are so excited to have an extra freezer. Mom even helped me to start filling it :) There is a perfect little nook in our house for the freezer! Yea! So Happy! We also used my parents trailer to get a table off craiglist to fit in our little dining nook area. We found one for 7 bucks! Scott just gave the lady 10 since it was totally worth that! Now we can use the built in benches instead of them just being in the way. Yea C.L.!!!

Grandma and Grandpa fun!

This weekend we had a super fun visit from Grandma and Grandpa Embree. It was so great to have them here. It was fun to show off my little house and my super cute baby! They ohh'd and ahh'd and fawned over everything so they are welcome back any time :)

We had fun on Friday shopping at the outlet mall. My mom has lots of little Grandaughters so we love the Carter's store. We also had to get delicous carmel and chocolate apples. This is because my college roommate Brighten's mom all ways brought them when she came to visit. They were deliche! Friday night mom joined me and some friends for Bunco night. It was really fun! We topped the evening off with Bride Wars.

Saturday we headed to the zoo. Rori is getting to be alot more fun. If the animals are moving she will sometimes look at them, either that or she's playing with her reflection in the glass, I'm not quite sure :) They headed home Saturday afternoon, TO SOON! It was great to have them and we hope they can come again!

Grandma and Rori with the Coati. Again not sure if she liked the animal or the cute baby in the glass...

Grandma and Grandpa with Rori at the Zoo!

I love this picture. I have a picture of myself around Rori's age and Grandpa Glenn showing me some Canadian Geese. It is so great to have such a similar picture. I want to put them in a frame together. I wish Grandpa Glenn could have met Rori, but am so grateful she gets to spend time with my awesome dad!

Grandma gave Rori her first lip gloss. It tastes like brown sugar and Rori had a tongue smacking time with it!

Fun Moments

Here are just some fun pics and tidbits from our life lately.

Rori loves cell phones. What kid doesn't right? So lately anything she is holding must be a phone. If I'm talking on my phone she sticks whatever's in reach up to her ear and says "ohh!" This is so cute. Even if I'm not talking on the phone she gets it into her head to do this and will keep at it for like 10 minutes. Lots of laughs.

Rori now has 4 teeth on top and 2 on bottom. She loves to brush her own teeth but screams bloody murder when I try to actually get them clean. Hopefully soon she will understand that I only need to do it for a minute then she can have the toothbrush back. It is like her favorite toy, maybe it has something to do with the yummy tooth paste.

There has been alot of construction going on along our street. They are replacing a waterline. This has been especially annoying since they just repaved our street, and now they are ripping it up again. Talk about efficient. Anyway they tore up part of our drive way and today they replaced the concrete. The cool part is I got to put Rori's hand a foot print in the driveway without paving anything myself. Thank you Boise City.

Rori loves to stand next to the glass door and look out. She gets especially excited when Scott comes home. She never gets that excited when she sees me. Wonder what he has that I don't huh?
This is how I found Rori when I went in to get her for her 1 year check up. I have no idea how she's breathing. We went to her check up hoping to take a picture with her Dr since we have one at her first appointment. Turns out Dr. Agler wasn't there and no one bothered to call me to reschedule. I was annoyed. Later I even learned he is no longer with them. Hopefully he finds a practice close by so we can keep seeing him! Rori was 28 inches long and 18 lbs 6 oz. So not big but in a good healthy range. I am hoping to put a video together of her first year of pics and video, but it is a daunting task, we took way to many pictures. Anyway stay tuned for that.

Rori's first ride behind the bike. Cold, but fun!

Fun Halloween Costumes

So my ever more talented sister who makes me look like a terrible homemaker has made these amazing costumes for Halloween. Check out her Craigslist ad. You can even get them for an adult (they are a little more since you need more fabric). My older sister and her two daughters all got black and red ones and are going to be ladybugs, too fun!
